When I am booking hotels I check at least 5 or 6 sites as I find a great difference in price and, because you are from the U.S. there are even more, many of which I can search but often cannot book as I do not have a U.S. credit card. There are even some that will compare for you like Sidestep and Booking Buddies. Hotel.com is another. I just booked thru a British site called Hotelopia. Some of these you must pay at time of booking with a credit card but they do give a printable copy of your reservation. So far I have not had any problems and have saved alot of money BUT it takes alot of time. Good Luck.
