Subject: Canadian/American trip in May |
Ziners,
Thanks to many of your helpful suggestions, our trip to Canada & the US in May/June is nearly all organised. We have booked the Canadian, Toronto-Edson with a stop in Winnipeg, The Skeena to Prince Rupert and a flight from Seattle to Lincoln NE! We are going to take the Ferries from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy and then from Victoria to Seattle. We'll make our own way by bus & train down Vancouver Island with some stops on the way and also spend some days in Seattle. At the moment we are booking accommodation in Toronto, Winnipeg, Prince Rupert, Port Hardy & Seattle. We prefer B&Bs to hotels and have found lots on the various websites though any definite recommendations would be welcome. However, I do still have a few questions! We want to travel fairly light with all the jumping on & off trains etc. so don't want to take any unnecessary clothes. I know that we are crossing vast areas but a rough idea of what to expect weatherwise would be helpful. Coming from Scotland, I am sure that is a very silly question! Are there any definite "must sees" in any of the places mentioned or any wonderful places to eat on a limited senior's budget? We know nothing about Seattle except that a young American friend told me it is the coolest place in the US, not referring to the weather I'm sure!! Any ideas of places to stay, eat in or see. We'll be there 3 or 4 nights. I am sure that there will be more questions before we leave here on May 7th but thanks again for any help. Jan Bo'ness, Scotland |
