I am also planning a trip to Portugal May 23 - June 1st. Our 2nd time as we were there in 2000.

At that time I stayed at the Fenix Hotel. My question, especially to João and Helene, is the Fenix still good. We liked the location last time. Or do you have any other suggestions?

We plan to head north. Tomar, Aveiro, Porto, Viana do Casterlo and maybe near Mealhada as I hear the city is known for it's suckling pig.

I would like to see the Douro by boat - Porto to Regua and take the train back to Porto. Though it is not grape season, do you feel it is still worth that trip.

Any other suggestions, again appreciated.
