Subject: Credit Cards in Foreign Countries |
Hi Fellow Ziners:
Some time ago there was a thread dealing with the use of credit cards overseas and the way in which the credit cards are charged: The charge is made in local currency, e.g. Euros, or the transaction is done in the currency of the credit card holder. If I recall it was advantageous to have the transaction done in local currency, but I am not sure why. Do you state prior to the transaction that you want it to occur in local currency? I will be leaving for Italy and France this spring and I would appreciate any assistance in this matter. Harry in New Jersey |
