We are planning a trip to Italy for May/June 2006. We are starting in Rome and then heading down to the Amalfi Coast. My husband is an amateur photographer and has been in love with the Amalfi Coast for years. I'd like to get some feedback from ziners who've been to the Amalfi Coast. We are scared to drive from Rome to Positano. Some friends tell us that we'll miss a lot if we don't have a car. What has been your experience? We thought about taking the bus down to Sorrento and then hiring a taxi (some listed in the Rick Steves book) to take us to the Amalfi Coast & stop whenever we want to take pictures. We drove in Tuscany two years ago. Should we be afraid to drive to Sorrento, etc.

Any advice will be appreciated.
