My globetrotting (and currently unemployed) 23-year-old son is heading for Rio for Carnaval. Accommodations are tight, as you can imagine, but he's located a hostel in Botafogo with rooms.

Here's the question: the hostel has asked him to email his credit card information. This makes him (and me) nervous, but he is very concerned about having a place to stay (he is not a sleep-in-the-park kind of guy).

Any thoughts? Advice? Reassurance?
