A few things come to mind:

The High Museum of Art just underwent a major expansion and would be well worth a visit for your art loving husband.

The Georgia Aquarium recently opened and is a do not miss. Make sure to make reservations in advance to insure you get in when you want to go.

The most recent edition of National Geographic Traveler has a very nice article on Atlanta with shopping, dining and art hints that you might find useful.

Also, in Atlanta May is not spring, but SUMMER. It will probably be hot!
