We're spending 3 nights in Dresden on our upcoming trip, and during that time we'd like to make a part-of-a-day trip to Meissen and tour the porcelain factory. If any of you have done that, I'd like to know:

a) what's the best way to get there, without renting a car. I'm thinking about taking a river cruise or the train, or both. Or is there an easy bus?

b) what, if anything, you'd recommend in Meissen besides the porcelain factory - I see that there is a castle and a cathedral but don't know much about them.
