I agree with Joel, regarding Lake Garda, Sirmione and Verona. Not to be missed in Sirmione are the Grotte di Catullo, an awesome combination of Roman ruins and beautiful panoramic views over Lake Garda. Verona is a beautiful city, I found fascinating the Basilica San Zeno Maggiore, save some time to visit it. It is slightly off the center of Verona, indeed worth the effort of getting there.
