One of my tourism students commented that the UK recently implemented a "chip and pin" credit card system which does not accept foreign credit cards that do not have the electronic chip. Apparently many merchants and restaurants are no longer able accept US credit cards (AMEX, Visa, Mastercard) as their card readers cannot locate a chip. Has anyone had any first hand experience with this?
