A big Amen to Carol's comments about travel agency fees and the necessity for them. I couldn't have said it better. We owned an agency for several years and in the mid 90's the airlines began to cut their 10% commission on tickets - first to 8%, then to 6% then to zero. It doesn't take long to figure out that you cannot operate on zero income. But more than just being helpful in planning the kind of trips you want and finding the best airfare, there's the help good agents can give you if something goes wrong during your trip.
