Subject: Disaster Preparedness
Hello Ziners,

If anyone is planning travel to British Columbia in the next while be aware that ferry service along the inside passage route between Port Hardy and Prince Rupert has been temporarily suspended. Early yesterday morning the motor vessel Queen of the North hit a rock and sank an hour later. Information concerning service can be found at http://tinyurl.com/kygwv

Accounts of the rescue include a vacationing British couple in their mid 70s finding themselves in their night clothes in a lifeboat within a brief few minutes after being awoken by crew, no money or credit cards and no identification. Everything went down with the ship.

I think before travelling again I will scan passport, driver's licence, birth certificate, credit card numbers etc., and attach the scans to an email that can be accessed remotely by webmail.

Do any Ziners take similar precautions?
