I am thinking about a 2 week trip to Greece in mid October, but after talking to a few friends I've become discouraged by their negative comments that ranged from pollution to "October is a little late to visit". I had planned to stay mostly on the mainland and see an island or two.

What has your experiences been in Greece? Any itinerary suggestion?
