We took the antimalarial Malarone while travelling in South Africa and Botswana without any adverse effects. I would suggest if possible to avoid Larium because of its possible central nervous system side effects. These are not the countries that you want to have to deal with psychiatric sysmptoms of any kind. It is important to check the Centre for Disease Control or a travel clinic doctor to make sure that the antimalarial selected is effective in the regions you will be travelling.
