Subject: Re: Trip to Calgary / Canadian Rockies
Hi Ziners,

We used the Red Carpet Inn in Banff as a home base between two backpacks. It was recommended by Lonely Planet Canada as comfortable, affordable and air conditioned. We found the motel to be just that, decent chain accommodations but not lux. Now that we have the Banff experience under our belts, we will look into hotels-motels in Canmore if we visit again. Canmore is about 15 minutes outside of Banff, lower in price, and less touristy.

Didn't have nearly enough time to sight see around Banff but we did enjoy our day at Lake Louise and Lake Moraine.

In Calgary, we stayed near the airport and spent our too few hours at Canada's fabulous MEC (Mountain Equipment Co-op) outdoor store, on the greenway, on top of Calgary Tower and at Fort Calgary. We like Calgary will definitely go back for further exploration.

Have a great trip! Beverly Knoxville, TN
