Subject: Re: Hotels in Normandy and/or Brittany?
Pamela,

We stayed at the same hotel Mark did about 20 yrs ago with our children and loved it. While in Honfleur (which is such a darling town) please drive a bit further south to Bayeux and see the Queen Mathilde Tapestry. You won't be sorry. This, in my opinion, is one of the 'wonders of the world.' It is truly a work of art.

There are many sites to read from and you really won't be sorry to detour!!!

"The Bayeux Tapestry, commissioned by Bishop Odo, William the Conqueror's half brother, is housed in the Musee de la Tapisserie de Bayeux. The 58 embroidered panels recount the dramatic events leading up to the invasion of England in 1066, and the Battle of Hastings"

(Mod's note from Michael - For some background and additional links on the Bayeux (or Queen Mathilde) Tapestry try this site http://tinyurl.com/89snx Also, for something a bit shorter, see http://tinyurl.com/jhoo8 A Google search will also give you info in French on the museum etc.)
