Subject: The travel factor and Luang Prabang
Hi Ziners,

There is an article in the local paper about Luang Prabang in Laos: "Bit players in a theme park".

Luang Prabang was placed on the World Heritage list in 1995 and the mass of tourists is destroying, directly and indirectly, what placed it on the list. The author raises an intersting question about the effect on indigenous cultures from mass tourism and the search for "off-the-beaten track" destinations. http://tinyurl.com/l8dwx

There is a sidebar article about Tony Wheeler, Lonely Planet - "the Lonely Planet factor". http://tinyurl.com/msa68
