We took a driving trip to Winnipeg and stopped at a bank in Grand Forks, ND (pretty close to the Canadian border) and about two hours away from Winnipeg and they cheerfully exchanged our US dollars for Canadian. No muss, no fuss and very favorable exchange rate.
