Doing everyday tasks sometimes leads to unexpected places or gives you a taste of the non-touristy life. I remember going into the only "internet café" located in a murky pool hall. We got curious glances but no problems! When you are away from home, even buying the local version of headache tablet can be interesting. Or checking out the supermarkets - in Tuscany we scandalized the locals (until we realized the rules of the game) when we didn't use plastic gloves before handling the fruit and veg. And all the small parts from espresso machines at the checkout counter!
