I agree with Paul. In my several trips to Italy, including 3 weeks in Sicily this January, I can only recall one really bad meal. That was at a restaurant down the street from the Rome train station about ten years ago. Unfortunately it was our last night in town on that trip, so it left a bit of a bad taste in our mouth. On our recent trip, the food was so uniformly good that it was the attention of the staff that made the difference, not the quality of the food.
