We have a photo iPod (the older one) and we use it for audio books, photo storage and travel notes.

We found the travel notes function fabulous. You have to be sure your notes are only 30 characters wide and not too many lines or a note will be cut short. However it is handy to be able to check people's addresses, flight information, restaurant addresses and more.
