A nice (not so big) hotel. Actually it is not a real hotel, it is a restaurant
with rooms. The building is little bit outside of Innsbruck (at the end of the
runway of the airport - but there is no air traffic during the night), so it is
also quiet.
You can also excellent eat there. Price: approx. USD 40,- to 42,-- per person
and night.

We spent $636 for 2 rooms for 3 nights in July 1999. The two rooms connected as
a suite, perfect for my mother, sister and I. The hotel was extremely
comfortable, with great food, and a courtyard for lunch that provides a view of
the alps. The hotel is family run. It's located less than 2 blocks from the
train station and you can see the Golden Roof from the front rooms. Highly
recommended!

Salzburg

Haus Reichl

Last September my husband and I stayed at a wonderful B&B in Salzburg by the
name of Haus Reichl. A short bus ride takes you into the heart of Salzburg yet
the B&B is in a country setting overlooking the Untersberg. We had a car for
our stay and used it to tour the countryside but always used the bus to go into
Salzburg. The owners, Herr and Frau Reichl, are very kind and offer a wonderful
breakfast. They also can book tours, loan you their bikes, or help you with
anything else.
The rooms are lovely and the ensuite bathrooms wonderful. Frau Reichl speaks
some english and gets along quite well with her guests. Of course, if you
can speak a little german it always helps. When we were there, an american
couple was staying for one week and they loved it--they spoke no german! Check
the site for the current daily rate (always reasonable. We paid ATS 650 per
night for the ensuite room with breakfast--about$50 US per night) If you stay
there, ask for the room with the screens. In the warm weather screens on the
windows are always preferred to french doors with no screens.

This hotel is a three-star establishment. Very centrally located, between
Stephansdom and Schwedenplatz. You can walk there easily from the metro station.
I booked it through the Vienna Tourist Office service, in the web
(info.vienna.at),
and I was very pleased. I received a quick answer from the hotel (per e-mail).
Although they didn´t ask for it, a couple of weeks before our arrival I sent per
fax the credit card number, just to be sure of the booking. We got a very nice
double room. There wasn´t much space in the cupboard, but we had just a
carry-on, so it wasn´t a problem. The room only had a bath and a hand-held
shower (no curtains), but the bathroom had been renovated and it was spotless
clean. The breakfast was great. Plenty of cold meats and cheese, cereals,
different kind of bread rolls, good orange juice, jam and butter, Twinnings tea.
When we arrived there were a group of Austrian retireés (each morning they were
going on a walk
organised at the hotel), two British couples, and a few more Austrian people.
During the weekend it was pretty full. There is a well-stocked SPAR supermarket
around the corner, and many restaurants. I will come back, for sure.
